Resting Sea feels like an echo of Seal Cove on Grand Manan in New Brunswick, with something of Alma in its fishing stages and sheltered harbour. Bright houses sit lightly across the green hillside while weathered wharves reach into the pale blue water. Dories are scattered through the inlet and one small working boat rests near shore, its reflection barely disturbed by the sleeping sea.

Elizabeth did not recreate a single place. She gathered the remembered language of coastal life—boats, rocks, rolling land and buildings shaped by generations of work—and allowed it to become this tranquil harbour. Resting Sea speaks of well-earned stillness, when the day's labour is complete and both village and ocean seem content simply to be.
