The Story Behind The Painting

Daybreak Coast

Daybreak Coast feels like an echo of Stonington in Maine, softened by memory, with something of Port Clyde in its working waterfront and weathered buildings. Pastel houses rest across rolling green hills while sturdy fishing stages stand close to the water. Between them, small dories and rounded rocks float in near-perfect reflection, waiting under the cool, clear light of morning.

Elizabeth did not set out to record a particular Maine harbour. She paints from the echoes of places that have stayed with her—the shape of a wharf, the colour of a house, boats drawn close to shore and the peace of water before the working day begins. Daybreak Coast honours the quiet dignity of coastal life and the enduring relationship between the village, its people and the sea.
